NOT SO BERRY
A few drinks later, Astrid had to use the restroom. Upon leaving the stall, she saw Tess fixing up her makeup in the mirror. She’d never really taken in the beauty her best friend possessed. Of course she thought she was pretty, but it was a different kind of attraction.
“This is going to sound really creepy… but you’re so p-pretty.” Astrid’s words were slightly slurred and the hint of alcohol on her breath gave her buzz away.
Tess giggled, flattered by her friends compliment. “That’s really sweet of you, but I think you’re a little tipsy so we should probably get you home soon.”
“I thought your brother was… I thought he was for me but I was wrong,” Astrid mumbled under her breath, barely audible to Tess’ ears. “Maybe you’re the one for me.”
Tess swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat, trying to ignore the words her friend had spoken but they were stuck in her mind for the rest of the night.
