NOT SO BERRY
After blowing out the candles, Astrid took a seat at the bar.
Tess noticed the sullen expression on her best friend’s face and sat beside her. “I know you’ve been feeling down lately, so if there’s anything that you want to talk about, you can come to me.”
Astrid glanced at Tess and sighed. She could feel tears boiling on the brim of her eyelids and all the pent up emotions constricting in her chest. Instead of talking about them, she simply used her punching bag for release but that only worked for so long.
“I guess I just feel lost,” The silver-haired woman began, a single tear leaving a burning trail down her cheek. “Ever since Eduardo, I just feel like not many people care about me. My siblings don’t call, my friends are too busy for me and it seems like I’m all alone sometimes. My parents both died when I was just a teenager and even then we were never close. I always wanted a strong relationship with my children to make up for the one I never got with my mom and dad but it just isn’t like that.”
Tess grabbed her best friend’s hand in hers. “You’re not alone, Astrid.”
// my writing is a bit off in this only because i just woke up and my brain isn’t functioning properly yet! if something doesn’t make sense, i am very sorry lol.
