NOT SO BERRY

Tess reached up and cradled Astrid’s face in her hand. “Listen, you’re not alone! I care, Grayson cares and even though your siblings don’t call you that much, they care. I live with your brother, he talks about you all the time and how he misses you.”

Astrid released a small sigh. “Thank you for that. I know I probably seem like I’m overreacting but I can’t help it.”

“Don’t apologize, Astrid. Your feelings matter. Don’t let anyone ever make you feel otherwise.” Tess told her friend. “How about we go to the park Saturday? You can bring the kids and spend some time with them, it’ll be fun!”

With a smile, Astrid nodded her head. “I’d like that.”

// ngl, i almost made them kiss but it felt a little too inappropriate. tess and astrid are best friend goals, and maybe couple goals too but we’ll see. 😉

NOT SO BERRY

After blowing out the candles, Astrid took a seat at the bar.

Tess noticed the sullen expression on her best friend’s face and sat beside her. “I know you’ve been feeling down lately, so if there’s anything that you want to talk about, you can come to me.”

Astrid glanced at Tess and sighed. She could feel tears boiling on the brim of her eyelids and all the pent up emotions constricting in her chest. Instead of talking about them, she simply used her punching bag for release but that only worked for so long.

“I guess I just feel lost,” The silver-haired woman began, a single tear leaving a burning trail down her cheek. “Ever since Eduardo, I just feel like not many people care about me. My siblings don’t call, my friends are too busy for me and it seems like I’m all alone sometimes. My parents both died when I was just a teenager and even then we were never close. I always wanted a strong relationship with my children to make up for the one I never got with my mom and dad but it just isn’t like that.”

Tess grabbed her best friend’s hand in hers. “You’re not alone, Astrid.”

// my writing is a bit off in this only because i just woke up and my brain isn’t functioning properly yet! if something doesn’t make sense, i am very sorry lol.

so ive been on generation five nsb for a little bit now and she’s aging so quick i haven’t even began getting her married – she ain’t even got a romantic partner – or havin babies and she’s so close to being an adult ahhh

NOT SO BERRY

A few drinks later, Astrid had to use the restroom. Upon leaving the stall, she saw Tess fixing up her makeup in the mirror. She’d never really taken in the beauty her best friend possessed. Of course she thought she was pretty, but it was a different kind of attraction.

“This is going to sound really creepy… but you’re so p-pretty.” Astrid’s words were slightly slurred and the hint of alcohol on her breath gave her buzz away.

Tess giggled, flattered by her friends compliment. “That’s really sweet of you, but I think you’re a little tipsy so we should probably get you home soon.”

“I thought your brother was… I thought he was for me but I was wrong,” Astrid mumbled under her breath, barely audible to Tess’ ears. “Maybe you’re the one for me.”

Tess swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat, trying to ignore the words her friend had spoken but they were stuck in her mind for the rest of the night.
