NOT SO BERRY

The days following Astrid and Eduardo’s breakup blurred into weeks which quickly turned into months. It felt like the longest three months of her entire life. Each day was filled with the same repetitive routines at work, cleaning up the house and watching her children grow further and further away from her. She’d never felt so alone, stuck in an endless loop of a song she didn’t like. Her only two friends seemed to always be too busy for a five minute phone call, Iris was always preoccupied with school and work and the twins had been spending a lot of time with their father who just so happened to had gotten married to her brother Leo; she hadn’t even gotten in invitation to the wedding.

Her thirty-second birthday was slowly creeping up on her and she didn’t feel a single ounce of excitement. Is this what it was like growing older? Was she bound to feel this insufferable loneliness and hopelessness forever or was it just a bump in the road?

// hello, lovelies! if you haven’t noticed, i’ve been slowly writing longer and more detailed captions to add more depth and story to my gameplay! not gonna lie, i’m pretty insecure about my writing skills and storytelling abilities but i have to start somewhere, right? i have plans for it, especially plans revolving around the situation astrid is in right now and i’m going to do my absolute best to portray her struggles correctly ( as someone who has recurring depression – which is what astrid is going through, she just isn’t aware of it yet – i want to do right by anyone who also has this mental illness) so if you have any thoughts on how i can more accurately show what she’s going through please let me know! i’m not always the best at explaining how i – or my character’s – feel through words so i’m trying my best! ♥ love, pootaint.

Astrid was livid. “I don’t want to hear you try to justify your actions with more lies! I am a strong woman, I’ve worked so hard to show my girls that they can grow up to be anything – like a famous athlete, for example – and I don’t need a pathetic excuse of a man like you dragging me down and ruining everything I’ve taught them! You’re disgusting, Eduardo and your poor wife doesn’t deserve to be married to someone like you.”

Astrid, I’m so-”

“No, you don’t get to apologize. I am a force to be reckoned with and if you don’t tell your wife everything, I will. No woman should ever have to go through this. If you want to make things right, start with your wife but leave me out of it!”

// astrid snapped! bless this woman for exposing the dirty snake eduardo is. landgraabs, smh.

Shortly after Eduardo arrived, Astrid led him to her front porch. The grim look on her face worried the man, had he done something wrong?

“I called you because I know all your dirty little secrets.” Astrid told him without warning, catching Eduardo off guard. He appeared shocked, full of guilt but Astrid knew it was all an act. “Your wife isn’t dead! What you’ve done to her is disgusting and I can’t believe I fell for your stupid lies. Whatever we had, it’s over!”

Astrid, please… let me explain myself!” Eduardo begged, but Astrid wasn’t in the mood for any more lies.

After reassuring Grayson she’d be okay, Astrid parted ways with her friend and dialed Eduardo’s number. She put a fake smile on when his voice came through the other end of the line. “Hey, do you think you could meet me at my home? I wanted to talk to you about something…”

Astrid had never been so confused. “But… he told me his wife passed away! He seemed so upset about it and – and I’ve spent so much time around him! This can’t be true!”

Grayson sighed. “I’m sorry, A. He’s not who you think he is! His wife is Alexis Landgraab and I can assure you that she’s very much alive and they are very married. They live next door to me. I would never lie to you about something like this.”

In that moment, all Astrid Berry felt was rage. How could she have been so dumb?

“Uh, is everything okay?” Astrid observed her friend, taking in the shocked expression etched into her features.

“That’s the guy you’re seeing?!”

Astrid furrowed her eyebrows. “Yeah.. he’s really nice and stuff -”

“No! He’s not nice, he’s evil and a liar!” Grayson cut her off. “He’s not a single parent, he’s married!”

“What?!”
