tyler: can you promise me something since i promised you something?

dexter: sure, what is it?

tyler: will you promise me that you’ll say you’re sorry to your mom and won’t ever act like that again. 

dexter: i promise, dad. i love you.

tyler: i love you too, buddy.

tyler: so your mom told me about your little incident at school and how you acted when she tried to talk to you about it. i know you’re angry but please don’t ever treat your mother like that again. she’s only trying to help you.

dexter: i know, i just – she told me to apologize but i don’t want to! dustin is a bully and he deserves to get beaten up!

tyler: instead of using your fists, try using your words. you don’t have to use violence to resolve a bad situation, it only makes it worse in most cases. 

dexter: what if he doesn’t listen?

tyler: then that’s his choice and i promise you that if he continues to bully you and others, i’ll have a word with his parents myself.

iris: fighting people is not okay! i taught you better then that and i want you to apologize to him tomorrow!

dexter: hell, no! i’m not apologizing to that asshole ever!

iris: dexter, watch your mouth! i’ve had it with your attitude, mister! i don’t care who started what, but you’re apologizing to dustin whether you like it or not! not another word out of your mouth or you’re grounded!

dexter: i hate you, i hate you!

iris: so, i heard you got into a fight with someone at school today. want to tell me what happened?

dexter: it’s not that big of a deal! this stupid kid was just being a jerk.

iris: that doesn’t mean you get into fights with people! violence is not the answer, dexter.

dexter: ugh, i don’t care! he deserved it! he’s so mean to everyone and needs to be put in his place!

dexter: it’s just so frustrating! i wish carina could see that he’s not any good for her! he’s a bully!

jocelyn: the only thing that matters is that she’s happy. if you try to break them up, she’s just going to be really mad at you!

dexter: i know, you’re right. it just really sucks! i know i’m just a kid but i think i love her. i want to protect her!

jocelyn: you’re very kind, dexter. i wish i had a friend like you!

dexter: we can be friends if you want! i don’t have any other than carina.

jocelyn: cool! i’d really like that.
